The prekindergarten program is designed to prepare children for elementary
school or if parents choose, our private kindergarten program. In our
prekindergarten program, children conquer new skills and practice learned
skills in preparation for their next academic endeavor. This program offers
many opportunities for children to participate in many hands-on, integrated,
and fun learning activities, which are developed by our well-educated and
trained teachers.
Our focus on the philosophy that young children learn best through playing,
exploring, experimenting, and creating continues, as the prekindergartners
are encouraged to visit developmentally appropriate learning centers, such
as blocks, science, sand & water, dramatic play, math & manipulatives,
language, writing, computers, gross motor, music & movement, and creative
art. They participate in individual, small group, and large group
activities, thus allowing our teachers to focus on the individual needs of
each child.
The teachers encourage our prekindergartners to play, make choices, practice
self-help skills, develop their independent thinking skills, develop their
language and listening skills, and expand their imagination. The
prekindergartners' emerging reading and writing skills are encouraged and
seen throughout their environment with our whole language approach to
learning. Math and science skills are encouraged through the use of many
hands-on materials. Computers are used to further assist children in their
cognitive development. In addition to our Spanish Program, the
prekindergartners are also introduced to many diverse and multicultural
activities and materials in their daily lessons.
The prekindergartners participate in our Movement Program, which prepares
them for the Little Pros Academy Sports Program. They play, practice, and
perform age-appropriate movement & sports skills daily, thus helping them
build their social-emotional skills, assist in their cognitive development,
and strengthen their physical development.
